My Tithe Experience...

''Paying tithe has expired'' Pastor Sam Adeniyi of DayStar Lagos said in church. Among everything he said on Giving, what got my attention was what he said about tithe: Tithing expired with the old testament. Now you decide what you want to give God, without being forced or pressured to, cheerfully not out of guilt. it could be from 0.01 -100% so far as u dey cheerful, but the twist is if you sew sparingly, you reap sparingly. If you sew plentifully you will reap plentifully.

Kai i felt really relieved from guilt some pastors make me feel on Tithe.

Let me give you gist....

So i was in Church one time for a financial conference. The Conference was supposed to teach us the secrets to Financial breakthrough and wealth. As an igbo girl i be, the sound of money and wealth got me cos i obviously want to hammer more. I quickly calculated the things i needed money for, that is how i went for the conference.

Oya Oh!

Pastor now said if you don't tithe, God won't bless you. He now made this bold demand that we must pay up to God all we owe him from the times we skipped tithe till date, so lets all bring out pen and paper and calculate the Months you did not pay your tithe, and you have to pay all at once. Not one Naira missing. My mouth entered my stomach. I have been tithing but for some months i could not tithe because of the pressing needs i had.

I began calculating my unpaid tithe na. It was plenty and the last money I had in my account home and abroad was exactly the amount i was 'owing' for my tithe. Pastor said oya come and pay now in front of alter God is watching (fear catch me). I thought i don escape this one because i did not have cash on me inside the church and kukuma the church is not my church, I just came for program(which no one sent me).... but the sister next to me, an usher, said they had POS in the church (crying already) she ushered me with that smile encouraging me to go clean my account..... i dragged my two legs to the POS spot and they collected my ATM Card from me, they cleared my account of the whole money I was supposedly owing God and gave me receipt of payment, I was left with 200 naira transport not to talk of my feeding and transport to work.

 Kai uwaleke oo!!

I felt deflated. On my way home, I checked my balance and  saw the same amount I put in my tithe back in my account. I told a colleague and she said its probably network that they will deduct it. I told her but they gave me receipt from the POS.  Three days later it was still there (meanwhile i was on hunger strike and almost trekking to work). The Sister still advised
me to go withdraw it from bank and pay it to the church, that it was an error.

Error??? Ogbeni it is Miracle oh. Error noni.  I cashed out my money and solved my problems that month to the glory of God. I give cheerfully and not when made to feel guilty.

Lesson: God loves a cheerful giver. Give cheerfully, not pressured or forced to do it 2Corinthians 9:7. Choose what you want to give God but however remember Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each one should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not out of regret or compulsion. For God loves a cheerful giver. Tithe does not make God love you or make you rich, the blessings of the Lord does. Love your neighbor, give to the needy, give to God ,it never mentioned a particular percent and appreciate your pastor.

Receive sense as i received mine! I am a cheerful giver, are you?

Happy New Month!!! Yehh.

Kisses. Bye
