A little story to Motivate you

I woke up and literally had to drag myself to prepare for the day and while I did, the feeling of foreboding for what the day held was like a dark cloud hanging over my head. You see I had a tonne of work to do that wasn't exactly in my areas of comfort or expertise and at this job I always, ALWAYS have to deliver 101%.
You can imagine the sigh of relief I gave when I opened up my desktop and the first message I get is one from my boss with his personal story titled ,"Your Mountain Is Not Permanent ".

It was basically a story detailing how he was able to overcome and achieve a fear he had once,at a time that was both physically and mentally trying for him. So I thought I should share with you.

Your Mountain is Not Permanent

Yesterday, I came before a mountain that a few months ago was insurmountable. My mountain, however, was not a real mountain,  but a flight of stairs at a London tube station.

I had just begun weaning myself of my crutches (aka Beavis and Butthead Rtd.), after my knee surgery and I was rushing to get to an important  meeting at the office. I  was making good time with my slow limp, which I had choreographed to look like an 'Obama swag'.

It was good to be back on my feet without help and I was feeling like Hussein Bolt...until l came out of the tube and found the escalator was broken and the only way was to climb a towering flight of stairs that looked like they ascended into the heavens.

I swear, I looked up and tears just welled up in my eyes,  as I saw people bouncing and  sprinting up the stairs, while I stood at the bottom contemplating the pain I was about  endure and how long it would take to get to the top and even doubting if I could make it at all. I never knew climbing a flight of stairs could seem like attempting to climb Mount Killimanjaro. Disability is a horribly humiliating and dis-empowering thing on so many levels, I tell you.

Well, the good news is that yesterday,  I once again came before my mountain and guess what? I had already galloped to the top like a young stallion without thinking. I was already at the top when I stopped and looked down to realize what I had just done without pain and the erstwhile humiliating feeling of powerlessness.

Again, tears welled up in my eyes but this time, tears of gratitude.  My mountain was no longer a mountain. Instead, it had become a testament to the complete and extraordinarily quick healing the good Lord had given me. I was strong, whole, empowered..., able and bouncing like Obama for real. My mountain was no longer one!

My message today is that your mountain today, does not have to be your mountain tomorrow or  forever. If you are defeated or dis-empowered today, it may not be so tomorrow.

Be disciplined.  Have faith. Do the work. Apply yourself. Be determined.  Have courage. Pray. Speak to yourself. Believe in yourself and God's love for you. Believe in His power to heal all wounds and restore every area of your life.

One day soon, you will not only climb your mountain with ease, but like me, one day you will already be at the top before realizing it. Your mountain will no longer be a mountain,  but a testament of God's everlasting goodness and the power to overcome all the mountains in your life. Pray, work, have faith and watch the mountains in your life disappear.

And when you get to the top, don't always just walk on by. Stop and look back. See how far He has brought you.  Remember what he helped you to overcome. Learn the lessons, share them with others and above all, be grateful.  Gratitude is the highest form of praise.

May you overcome every mountain in your life.
The End

Sigh!

While reading through  his experience I felt like the whole words were directed to me and it inspired me so much, I shared the story with my friend and number 1 ranter of Federal Republic-  Oge, who so happened to not be in a good place emotionally at that time as well.

So you see, no matter how impossible or frustrating your life may seem, no matter how insurmountable the difficulties maybe, there is an end to it, if and IF only, you summon the courage to look beyond the present and look to the top and never give up until you climb over that  mountain.

In his case it was a flight of stairs, in mine, a tonne of work and in Oge's the emotional roller-coaster she was on, but trust me for every situation, there is and always will be a light at the end of the tunnel, sometimes even closer than you expect, but most importantly note that you never get to see that light without digging through the tunnel. And when you do get to the light, relax, enjoy, breathe in and look back at how far you have come and much farther you could go with the power of positivity.

Pray
Think
Strategize
Work
More work

And....
More often than not...

Results!!!!!!!

I hope this  inspires someone out there today to believe in the power of a positive mind and a positive attitude....

Have a lovely day darlings!
